A region of outstanding natural beauty that's considered to be one of Europe's last remaining wildernesses.
Founded in 1971 as the first Portuguese National Park, it covers an area of 700 square kilometres.
The Park is a botanist's paradise and is noted for its huge variety of flora and fauna.
The mysterious looking “Espigueiros” (special corn-cob barn) made of granite rock depicting strange burying grounds show us the hard living conditions of the Portuguese mountain people.
